And so it begins.

I am almost finished with the laundry. I have my husbands dinner all ready to go when he leaves for work tonight. Coffee is set for when he comes home in a few hours. The bed has fresh sheets on it. And my Kindle is charged and ready to go.
I already know I am not going to be able to go all 24-hours. As stated in my previous blog, I promised my husband I would watch Iron Man 2 with him when he gets home from work this morning...at 5:30 a.m. That's -2 hours right there. And I've already been up since 8am yesterday morning (it is now 12:05am my time) so I'm tired already...even though I chugged a Red Bull about 2 hours ago...it did not wake me up. So I think for now I will read for about an hour maybe an hour and a half so I can get up for the day when E gets home at 5:30. I figure I should be able to get at least 18-19 hours in. Which for my first read-a-thon I think is pretty good.

Okay, okay, I need to stop wasting time here with ramblings and go read. I will hopefully update before I go to sleep later :)

First read of the 'thon: Hollowland, by Amanda Hocking.

  1. Can you believe the readathon is here already? Me either! Good luck and remember to enjoy the books you're reading!

  2. (Non)traditional Buddhist readathon blessing:

Just as the books fill the shelves,
Pile together on the floor and stack up on the table
So may the joy of the readathon
Flow forth to brighten your day and lift your spirit.
Books already read, books in progress and books yet to be read.

By the power of every word on the page
    May your book be delightful,
    As scary as Lovecraft’s Cthulhu
Or as sweet as a box of See’s candy.

Let the power of the images evoked by words
Keep you stay awake long through the night
    May no obstacle impede
    Your day filled with books.

For all of those who are reading today
Who follow in the path of Dewey
May your day be filled with the four blessings
Of fabulous books, tasty snacks, comfy chairs and joy.

  3. Thanks Buckeye Girl :)

Softdrink, I love that blessing. Especially the part about being as sweet as a box of See's candy since that is some of my favorite candy.
