Top Ten Items On My Bookish Bucket List

Cat. Book. Tea. Blankets. Flannel. The perfect combination.
Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovelies over at The Broke and the Bookish.

This weeks TTT topic is our bookish bucket list.
My list tends to change from year to year so this is mostly just for 2014.
Let's begin :)

#1.
Finish my own book.
I have about 6 projects going right now along with a notebook full of songs waiting to be finished.
I would like to finish at least 3 book projects and finish up some of my songs this year.

#2.
Keep up with reviews.
I have fallen quite behind on my blog...but especially with reviews. I thought life would level out at some point after I moved home almost 2 years ago now...but just when I think I'll be able to start reading and reviewing as I once did, other things throw themselves at me.
I don't want this to forever be the case. I miss reading more and reviewing.

#3.
Read 104 books in a year.
That's two books a week. This year I am quite behind in my reading goal but maybe at some point I'll be able to catch up.

#4.
Go to BEA.
This will definitely not be happening this year. But I am hoping soon. I would like to meet some of the people I've met through blogging that I know go most years. And I would love to just experience it.

#5.
Go on a writing retreat.
One thing that I've always been told is that if you are going to write about somewhere you should visit there and really get a feel for the place.
Or just to find a cabin in the mountains and lock myself away for a week to just focus on writing. Paradise. This I would like to happen this year sometime.

#6.
Finish the Harry Potter series.
I've always been nervous to read the books as I love the movies so much and I'm afraid reading all the books might ruin the movies, or vice versa, the movies have ruined the books.
This is the year I get over that fear and I reread the ones that I've already read and then finish the series.

#7.
Meet John Green.
The Fault in our Stars is one of my FAVORITE books and I would like to shake his hand and tell him thank you for writing it.

#8.
Finish at least 5 series that I've started.
There are so many unfinished series sitting on my shelves.
I read the first book and love it and keep buying the sequel and the ones after but never get around to reading them for various reasons. This year, this will change.

#9.
Weed out my books.
I have over 200 physical books and I have 680 on my Kindle. Not even going to lie, about 300 on my Kindle are review books from authors, publishers, Netgalley, and Edelweiss. I really need to go through those and decide which ones I really am going to read and review or not.

#10.
Enjoy reading again.
This past year it has felt like such a chore. Trying to find a book I can get into and finish quickly so that I can try and think of a few paragraphs to throw together for a review...blahh...it's been tiring and I've lost some of my spark for reading. Not for my book buying though...so I keep getting books but none are being read and going out.
I want to really enjoy it again.
So for a while I might not do reviews, just features, memes, blasts...those sort of things, just until I fall back in love with reading.

About Today by The National
Love love love The National. Loved this song choice for the end scene of Warrior. It gives me chills every time I watch it.

Gold by Steve Kazee
The movie Once is one of my favorites and I adore the soundtrack to both the movie and the play.
This is my favorite song from both :)

Music Monday {2} - Eli Young Band Edition

Eli Young Band
The Eli Young Band Edition.

I love Eli Young. I saw them open for another band at a little Texas country concert yearssss ago and they have remained one of my favorites.
So in honor of their release of their 10,000 Towns album just a couple weeks ago, I thought I would post a couple of my favorite Eli Young songs because I am just so thrilled for them, that this small town band has had such amazing success.

Guinevere
That second verse gets me every time. It hits pretty close to home for me.

When It Rains
All these love songs about rain...not this one.

I Love You
One of the simplest, sweetest songs I have ever come across.

Small Town Kid
Because I'm a small town kid too :)

What's your favorite Eli Young song?

Music Monday! {1}

Vintage Audio - yes

Music is an obsession. Probably just as much if not more than books.
If you follow me on twitter you will see me talking about all kinds of music all the time.
I will ignore everything else going on around me to listen to a song I love or to hear a new song.
So I decided to add a feature to my blog: Music Monday!
Every Monday (or more if I feel like it) I will post about something from my musical world.

For this first week I will just start off with a few songs that I am in love with at this moment.

Cole Swindell - Hope You Get Lonely Tonight

Country music is the core of my soul.
I am from a small town in South Texas so I grew up listening to it all.
I adore Cole Swindell and his new single totally does it for me.
It's going to be a perfect summer song.

Lord Huron - Ends Of The Earth

This song <3
For the soul that is filled with wanderlust.

City and Colour - Save Your Scissors

Because Dallas Green is forever amazing.

So fellow music lovers, what would your Music Monday pick(s) be?
