Pivot Point by Kasie West - DAC Book Tour

"Knowing the outcome doesn’t always make a choice easier . . .

Addison Coleman’s life is one big “What if?” As a Searcher, whenever Addie is faced with a choice, she can look into the future and see both outcomes. It’s the ultimate insurance plan against disaster. Or so she thought. When Addie’s parents ambush her with the news of their divorce, she has to pick who she wants to live with—her father, who is leaving the paranormal compound to live among the “Norms,” or her mother, who is staying in the life Addie has always known. Addie loves her life just as it is, so her answer should be easy. One Search six weeks into the future proves it’s not.

In one potential future, Addie is adjusting to life outside the Compound as the new girl in a Norm high school where she meets Trevor, a cute, sensitive artist who understands her. In the other path, Addie is being pursued by the hottest guy in school—but she never wanted to be a quarterback’s girlfriend. When Addie’s father is asked to consult on a murder in the Compound, she’s unwittingly drawn into a dangerous game that threatens everything she holds dear. With love and loss in both lives, it all comes down to which reality she’s willing to live through . . . and who she can’t live without." - GoodReads.

For every action there is a reaction, so which action is Addie going to make and which reaction is she willing to live with?

I'm just going to throw this out there right up front....I ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!! Seriously, guys, it's great.
Pivot Point completely took me by surprise. Of course I thought it sounded good when I first read the synopsis and I couldn't wait to read it, but what I actually got was incredible.
There are so many things about this book I loved.

There is a secret compound that houses a whole different class of people that all have some sort of ability. It's fairly reminiscent of X-Men, BUT, there isn't some sort of war going on, humans aren't trying to destroy them, nothing super dramatic. It really is Addie's story of trying to pick which future to go with, which parent to live with.
That's where it gets interesting though. The book's chapters alternate between the two futures that Addie will choose between, each with pros and cons. One possible future has Duke, the good-looking quarterback for the paranormal team, the other future has Trevor, the sweet and sensitive artist that is so easy to be friends with. One future has her mom, the other her dad. One future she gets to see her best friend all the time, the other she has to leave her behind.

As I got closer to the end the alternating chapters started to drive me crazy, in the best of ways. Things start to get intense in both story lines what with a murderer on the loose so I wanted to know what was going to happen in both futures. When a paranormal chapter would end I would want more of that story, but then I would get into the normal chapter and sigh in frustration when that chapter ended...but then quickly realize that I got to further the story in the paranormal chapter then. I've never read a book that had alternating chapters like that. It was awesome.

Kasie West is just brilliant. She created a story that sucked me in, characters that always had me guessing their motives, a world that had some incredible secrets, and two futures that I wasn't even sure hoe Addie was going to pick.
Kasie is a must read debut author. Order your copy now so it can be in your hands on release day! You won't regret it...except for the part that the sequel doesn't come out until next year. But that is a small thing and will be so worth the wait.
