June is "Favorite Gentlemen" Month.

Reading has been slow going lately. I just cannot seem to get into any book and I have started falling seriously behind in my reading goal for the year. And I just don't see that changing much in June since I will be going back to work in the next week or so and participating in Camp NaNoWriMo starting Friday. Busy is what I will be.
So I started thinking what I could do to get myself back in the reading game so that I don't fall even farther behind in my goal. That's when it hit me. Why not revisit some of my favorite literary gentlemen to rekindle my love for the written word? I always say that I am going to re-read certain books, but never do. So in June, instead of trying to force myself to read a new book I'm going to go back to some that I already know I love. My favorite books span over many genres so I narrowed it down to "favorite guy" books....that and I need some romance in my life.

My June reading list consists of:

• Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead (Dimitri Belikov)
• The Fault in our Stars by John Green (Augustus Waters)
• Blood Fever by Karen Marie Moning (Jericho Barrons) (also, not YA)
• Divergent by Veronica Roth (Four) I may also end up reading the sequel, Insurgent, right after.
• Twilight by Stephanie Meyer I haven't read this book in years. I want to see if now I am Team Edward or Team Jacob.
• My Blood Approves by Amanda Hocking (Peter)
• The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han (Conrad)
• Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins (Ettiene St. Clair)

So there's my list with just some of my favorite literary guys. I'll also throw a couple review books in there, but this list is what I will be focusing on.

Hopefully one of these books will get me back on the reading horse. And instead of doing a review for each of them, since I have reviewed most of them already, I'll write up a post about why the book's leading man is one of my favorites.

When I read Anna it was the first contemp that I had read in a while. Contemporary had never really been my cup of tea. I need action, adventure, and a knight in shining armor. Well, Anna and the French Kiss does not have a knight in shining armor, but it does have Etienne St. Clair who is perfectly Parisian and oh so very charming. Only problem is that he has a girlfriend. Anna knows it's a bad idea, but she starts to fall for him anyway.


I thought the book sounded cutesy and maybe a little cheesy, but I kept seeing great reviews. Actually, I don't think even now I have seen a bad review for this book. Surely everyone could not be wrong on how good this story was. So I finally caved and bought it. It is now one of my favorite books and I cannot wait to re-read it.


The characters in this book felt like people I might know in real life, and the problems they faced were problems that anyone could have. Who hasn't fallen for someone that is unavailable before? I know I have. Who hasn't thought that it would be neat to go to a boarding school in a different country? There are no ghosts, witches, or other supernatural beings, but Anna and the French Kiss really shows how real life can be just a grand adventure. 


I absolutely loved that it mostly takes place in Paris. So much so that I have started taking French lessons...I'm not even kidding. And it gave me ideas of where I want to go, should I ever be lucky enough to go there. Paris made the story come even more to life, especially when St. Clair takes Anna to different places in the city. It was almost like its own kind of character. Anna was out of her element but she made it seem exciting once she became okay with the fact that she was stuck there. It does have the adventure side of being in such an incredible city.


I could probably go on and on about how much I loved this book and how great it is, but instead of reading my fan girling just go and get the book and read it. It was cutesy at times, but definitely not cheesy.
It has romance, adventure, and feels real...and it has St. Clair...which should be enough of a selling point.
So go and get this book. Now. It is just absolutely wonderful.
