And it's only 8 months away. THE EXCITEMENT CANNOT BE CONTAINED!
Except...between you and me...I haven't read Insurgent yet...because I am scared to read it. I loved Divergent so much that I'm afraid it won't stand up to it. But now that the 3rd on has a release date I'm going to have to cave and read Insurgent so that I will have time to emotionally prepare myself for this one.

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

PODs by Michelle K. Pickett

Paperback, 288 pages
Expected publication: June 4th 2013 by Spencer Hill Press

"Seventeen-year-old Eva is a chosen one. Chosen to live, while others meet a swift and painful death from an incurable virus so lethal, a person is dead within days of symptoms emerging. In the POD system, a series of underground habitats built by the government, she waits with the other chosen for the deadly virus to claim those above. Separated from family and friends, it's in the PODs she meets David. And while true love might not conquer all, it's a balm for the broken soul.
After a year, scientists believe the population has died, and without living hosts, so has the virus. That's the theory, anyway. But when the PODs are opened, survivors find the surface holds a vicious secret. The virus mutated, infecting those left top-side and creating... monsters.
Eva and David hide from the infected in the abandoned PODs. Together they try to build a life--a new beginning. But the infected follow and are relentless in their attacks. Leaving Eva and David to fight for survival, and pray for a cure." - GoodReads.

You guys! I cannot wait for this book. I've been craving a new dystopia for a little while and this sounds like just the thing. And it comes out 4 days before my birthday...sooo it will definitely be a birthday present to myself.

Waiting On Wednesday (#5)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Paperback
Expected publication: May 1st 2012 by Rhemalda Publishing

"When Naomi Jensen is kidnapped, it takes her parents two days to realize she’s missing. Escape isn’t high on her list of priorities when all she has to return to is an abusive boyfriend and parents who never paid much attention to her. For the first time in her life she’s part of a family—even if it is a family of criminals. But she’s still a captive. In a desperate attempt to regain some control in her life, Naomi embarks on a dangerous plan to make one of her kidnappers think she’s falling in love with him. The plan works too well, and when faced with the chance to escape, Naomi isn’t sure she wants to take it. "-GoodReads

I can't wait for this book. I am very curious to see how the author tackles Naomi 'wanting' to stay kidnapped and trying to convince one of her kidnappers she's in love with him. Will her life really seem terrible enough that I will completely understand her wanting to stay away? That is my biggest question.
So fellow readers, what are you waiting on this week?

Waiting on Wednesday (#4):

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: Hooked
Author: Catherine Greeman
Expected publication: August 9th 2011
Publisher: Delacorte Books for Young Readers
Genre: YA, Contemp

"Thea Galehouse has always known how to take care of herself. With a flighty club-owner mom and a standoffish, recovering-alcoholic dad, Thea has made her own way in her hometown of New York, attending the prestigious and competitive Stuyvesant High School. But one chat with Will, a handsome and witty senior, and she's a goner—completely hooked on him and unable to concentrate on anything else.
Always worried that she loves Will more than he loves her, Thea is pleasantly surprised when their romance weathers his move to college and Will goes out of his way to involve her in his life. But then, Thea misses a period. And that starts Thea and Will on a wild ride that neither of them could have possibly prepared for. When they decide to keep the baby, their concerned parents chip in what they can to keep Will in school and give both teenagers a comfortable place to raise their child. But when a freak accident leaves Thea shaken and threatens to upend their little family altogether, Thea is forced to turn to the last place she would have chosen for comfort: her stiff, uncompromising father.
This smart, touching first novel brims with realistic, beautifully drawn characters, and reminds us that love is never as easy or predictable as we might like it to be."-GoodReads.

I love the sound of this one. I've always loved reading about pregnancy, child birth, and babies. Doesn't matter if it is fiction or non-fiction. I love it. So this is right up my alley and I can't wait for it!

Waiting on Wednesday (#3)

WAITING ON WEDNESDAY:
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title:Epic Fail.
Author: Claire LaZebnik
Expected publication: August 2nd 2011
 Publisher: HarperTeen
Genre: Ya, Contemp

"At Coral Tree Prep in Los Angeles, who your parents are can make or break you. Case in point:

• As the son of Hollywood royalty, Derek Edwards is pretty much prince of the school—not that he deigns to acknowledge many of his loyal subjects.

• As the daughter of the new principal, new-girl-on-campus Elise Benton isn’t exactly on everyone’s must-sit-next-to-at-lunch list.

When Elise’s beautiful sister catches the eye of the prince’s best friend, Elise gets to spend a lot of time with Derek, making her the envy of every girl. Except she refuses to fall for any of his rare smiles and instead warms up to his enemy, the surprisingly charming social outcast Webster Grant. But in this hilarious tale of fitting in and flirting, not all snubs are undeserved, not all celebrity brats are bratty, and pride and prejudice can get in the way of true love for only so long. Fans of Susane Colasanti (When It Happens), Polly Shulman (Enthusiasm), and, of course, Jane Austen will love finding out if Elise’s love life will be an epic win or an epic fail." -GoodReads.

Pride and Prejudice retellings seem to be an ever growing trend in YA. Not that I am complaining as Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite novels and I am loving contemps right now, so this is like a two-for-one. And that is a super cute cover. Definitely high on my list of books I cannot wait to get my hands on.

Waiting on Wednesday. (#2)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Beauty Queens

Hardcover, 400 pages
Expected publication: May 24th 2011 by Scholastic Press

From bestselling, Printz Award-winning author Libba Bray, the story of a plane of beauty pageant contestants that crashes on a desert island.
Teen beauty queens. A "Lost"-like island. Mysteries and dangers. No access to email. And the spirit of fierce, feral competition that lives underground in girls, a savage brutality that can only be revealed by a journey into the heart of non-exfoliated darkness. Oh, the horror, the horror! Only funnier. With evening gowns. And a body count.

~~~*~~~
Ha! This cover is great! Definitely an attention grabber. And then the synopsis is the icing on the "I really want this book" cake. I love Libba Bray. She is an awesome writer. The Gemma Doyle trilogy are some of my favorite books, so I have high expectations for this one. And I've been reading a lot of depressing books lately so I'm starting to look for some different stuff and "Beauty Queens" looks like it will be a super fun read.
I am in love with this cover. School uniform, pearls, and hot pink hair. How badass does this chick look? I cannot wait to get this just so I can have the pleasure of seeing this cover on my bookshelf. And how great does that synopsis sound? This has seriously become one of those books that I am counting down the days to getting. Thank goodness I don't have to wait too much longer.
