Music Monday {5} - Country Songs for Fall vl. 1

Fall is my favorite time of year.
It's just kind of perfect.
Road Trips. All the colors. Flannel. Boots. Wrapped up in blankets by bonfires. Hikes. Being able to see your breath in the morning. Night drives with the windows down feeling the cool air blow through your hair.
Here are a couple of my favorite songs that just put me in the mood for a drive through the hillcountry with the windows down.
Kissin' in the Tail Lights by Shane Lee

Don't You Wanna Fall by Frankie Ballard

Close Your Eyes by Parmalee

Silverado Bench Seat by Granger Smith

Always the Love Songs by Eli Young Band

This is probably just the first of many Fall lists as I have many many songs that I love, and love even more when played at this time of year.

Music Monday {4} - Into the Wild Edition

Into the Wild poster minimalist movie poster by OurBrokenHouse

If you were to ask me what some of my favorite books are, Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer would probably be the first one to pop into my head.
If you were to ask me what some of my favorite movies are, Into The Wild (screenplay and directed by Sean Penn) would be one of the first to pop into my head.
The story of Chris McCandless is a fascinating one. Even though we were a couple generations apart in age, we share a lot of the same views on life and a lot of the things he did I would love to do.

Into the Wild. Tragic, but inspiringly so.

I'd like to think if he were still here and we somehow met we'd be friends.
With that said, if you've never seen the movie, you probably don't know how incredible the sound track is.
Well, for this Music Monday I am here to share with you a few of the beautiful songs that were made for the movie. It was actually Eddie Vedder's (lead singer of Pearl Jam) first solo album.

This music. Perfect.
It doesn't get Eddie Vedder than this (:D see what I did there?)
I've been craving a reread of the book and a rewatch of the movie (yet, again) but I am already in the middle of a couple other books at the moment. So sharing these with you will do for now :)

Music Monday {3}!

About Today by The National
Love love love The National. Loved this song choice for the end scene of Warrior. It gives me chills every time I watch it.

Gold by Steve Kazee
The movie Once is one of my favorites and I adore the soundtrack to both the movie and the play.
This is my favorite song from both :)

Music Monday {2} - Eli Young Band Edition

Eli Young Band
The Eli Young Band Edition.

I love Eli Young. I saw them open for another band at a little Texas country concert yearssss ago and they have remained one of my favorites.
So in honor of their release of their 10,000 Towns album just a couple weeks ago, I thought I would post a couple of my favorite Eli Young songs because I am just so thrilled for them, that this small town band has had such amazing success.

Guinevere
That second verse gets me every time. It hits pretty close to home for me.

When It Rains
All these love songs about rain...not this one.

I Love You
One of the simplest, sweetest songs I have ever come across.

Small Town Kid
Because I'm a small town kid too :)

What's your favorite Eli Young song?

Music Monday! {1}

Vintage Audio - yes

Music is an obsession. Probably just as much if not more than books.
If you follow me on twitter you will see me talking about all kinds of music all the time.
I will ignore everything else going on around me to listen to a song I love or to hear a new song.
So I decided to add a feature to my blog: Music Monday!
Every Monday (or more if I feel like it) I will post about something from my musical world.

For this first week I will just start off with a few songs that I am in love with at this moment.

Cole Swindell - Hope You Get Lonely Tonight

Country music is the core of my soul.
I am from a small town in South Texas so I grew up listening to it all.
I adore Cole Swindell and his new single totally does it for me.
It's going to be a perfect summer song.

Lord Huron - Ends Of The Earth

This song <3
For the soul that is filled with wanderlust.

City and Colour - Save Your Scissors

Because Dallas Green is forever amazing.

So fellow music lovers, what would your Music Monday pick(s) be?
