Holiday #Readathon Wrap-up Post.

Another readathon, come and gone. The Holiday #Readathon has become one of my favorites to participate in and I can't wait until next year to do it again.
Even though I was gone most of Friday and watched way too many Christmas movies with my mom on Satuday, I still did pretty good.
I finished Oblivion Road (I was only about 3 chapters in when I started) and I just have the tiniest smidge of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone left. Since this is my first go at the Harry Potter series I didn't want to rush through it, so I took this weekend to just enjoy it.

As I said in my starting post, I was donating $3 for every book I finished, with a $10 minimum. Since I basically finished two books I will be donating $10 to Books For Kids which was started by Britney and Farrah, the two lovely ladies behind I Eat Words.

Let the Holiday #Readathon begin!

Yay! It's finally December so it finally feels okay to start celebrating the Christmas season! 

And what better way to start a celebration than with a readathon!

Check out all the info about it HERE, you can join at anytime and it's going on allll weekend (Dec. 2-4).

I started my reading at midnight...since I'm up anyway.

Since it is actually midnight right now I am really off reading somewhere...sooo if I haven't already finished it I will be finishing up Oblivion Road by Alex McAulay.

Then jumping into Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J. K. Rowling, which I am freakin' excited about! I've been wanting to read the whole series for a long time.

And I have a couple of Christmas books I want to read so I might pick A Log Cabin Christmas by Wanda E. Brunstetter & 8 other authors.

I'm not setting a goal for how many books I want to have done because I never actually finish them all...and I'm going to be really busy most of Friday.

Holiday #Readathon

I loved doing this readathon last year and can't wait to take part in it again this year! Especially since it will be right after NaNoWriMo ends. I will need some R&R time (relax&reading time) by then.

I'm not sure what books I will be reading but I will probably jump into the Harry Potter series and I have some Christmas books that I want to get read too. I just have to decide which ones.

There will be mini-challenges and giveaways and there are other bloggers and authors signed up to participate too!
We will be using the twitter hashtag #readathon the whole weekend, so feel free to let everyone know what you are reading, how you are doing, etc.
On Sunday there will be a twitter party using the same hashtag at 9pm EST. We'll talk about books, the holidays and whatever else comes up. And there will be giveaways during the party too!

Liza has a challenge posted on the main page. You don't have to do it to participate in the #readathon, but it's worth it. You pledge an amount for every page or every book you read, then donate it to a charity of your choice for Christmas. It is strictly the honor system so only participate in the challenge if you really are going to donate.

My pledge is $3 for every book I read with a $10 minimum. So even if I don't get to read as much as I think I will get to I will donate at least $10. And I will be donating it to Books For Kids which was started by Britney and Farrah, the two lovely ladies behind I Eat Words.

Beginning of Day Two. #Readathon.

   As predicted I didn't get as much reading done yesterday as I would have liked. But I got a TON of packing done. Hopefully today since I don't have as much packing needing to be done I can get a lot of reading in.

The Holiday #Readathon starts tomorrow! The 2nd-5th.
Quite a few people have signed up and you still have time to sign up to if you haven't already.
All the information is HERE.
And it's for a good cause. If you'd like, pledge a certain amount, such as a penny or two for every page you read and keep track of all your pages. At the end of the readathon add it up and donate the amount to a charity of some sort for the holidays.

I am pledging $5 a book with a minimum of $10 because I know I won't be able to read as much this weekend as I would like to since I am still working on packing up my apartment to move next week. So no matter what I won't be giving less than $10. But if I do more than 2 books I will give more.

I really hope you sign up. It's going to a lot of fun and lots of blogs have mini challenges so you can win some really neat prizes too.
And on Sunday there is going to be a Twitter party that just for participating in you will be entered to win a prize.

Holiday Readathon with a Challenge.

So the Christmas season is pretty much already upon us. Stores are already being decorated or are decorated, they have Christmas music playing, parties are being planned, and if you are like me you have started your Christmas cards and shopping. But before you get all wrapped up in the hustle and bustle you should add a little reading down time to your schedule. This is not just any reading time though, this is reading time with a cause. The cause being you pledge money to a charity for every page or book you read. 

Here is the challenge from Liza Wiemer (readathon host) at WhoRuBlog.com:

  "Pledge a penny, or two, or three (or any amount you want!) per page for the books that you will read.  Put a minimum number that you will pledge.  For example:  100 pages – $1.00."
 THIS IS ON THE HONOR SYSTEM! Donate the dollar amount to a charity of your choice to make a child happy over the holidays or use it to buy a toy or book for any holiday collection or donate a book to your local library.

 Now I will be in the middle of finishing up packing my apartment to move from Tennessee to Colorado with my husbadn, so I don't know how much reading I'm going to be able to get done, but hopefully a lot more than I think. But I will be donating $5 for every book I read with a $10 minimum. That way, no matter how much I am able to read, I will be donating no less than $10. And if I am lucky enough to read more, then I'll be able to give more. My charity of choice is Toys For Tots or donate the money to the Border's Christmas book drive.
And there will be something in it for you if you participate (other than getting to read and give) other bloggers have signed up to give away prizes over the 4 days and there is a Twitter party that Sunday that you may win something just for participating AND everyone who signs up for the Readathon is automatically entered to win a $15 Amazon.com or B&N.com giftcard (your choice). Awesome right?!
